‘Fito’, who had threatened Villavicencio in Ecuador, has been transferred to a maximum-security prison

By order of Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso, alias ‘Fito’ has been transferred to the maximum-security prison of La Roca in Guayaquil, “for the safety of citizens and detainees.” Around 3,600 police officers and military personnel participated in the operation early Saturday morning.

‘Los Choneros’ is one of the most dangerous criminal organizations in Ecuador, closely linked to the Sinaloa Cartel, according to the Ecuadorian Police.

Villavicencio had explained that ‘Fito’s’ threats were “a warning that if I continue referring to him and his structure, they will attack against me or attempt on my life.”
