Mexico denounces “a very hostile attitude” on the border due to the measures of the Texas governor

Andrés Manuel López Obrador denounced that the Republican governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, has imposed a series of “unilateral and irresponsible measures” in the border area, which represent “a very hostile attitude” that not only affects the economy and trade flow between both countries but also complicates the migration crisis even further.

According to the Mexican president, the reason for these tensions is Abbott’s need to gain electoral advantage with these measures. However, he warned: “It will backfire because we will call on our fellow countrymen, neighbors, and brothers in Texas not to vote for those who act irresponsibly.”
