Florida sending 800 National Guard troops to Texas-Mexico border

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is sending 800 of the state’s National Guard troops to work for one month along the Texas border with Mexico as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called on non-border states to do more to help with an expected increase in migration in the coming weeks.

Abbott called in a letter on other governors to provide help at the border following last week’s end Title 42.

He wrote he is still preparing for the increase that even the federal government has predicted could reach 150,000 and will include an increase in the smuggling of drugs and people across the border.
