Fentanyl found in K2 products in Brazil

Fentanyl, a drug used for sedation in surgery and treating extreme pain, has been found in the country as a potent drug. There are reports of use of the product in K2, a synthetic cannabinoid that is still unknown to the police, and in cocaine.

“We had a case of poisoning this year in which synthetic cannabinoid and fentanyl were found in the patient’s blood sample,” says professor José Luiz da Costa, coordinator of Unicamp’s toxicological information and Assistance Center, in the interior of São Paulo.

“The hypothesis that we have is that this is being mixed in the drugs, because people who are coming here using fentanyl, but do not confirm this consumption, but of other drugs,” explains the toxicologist.
