US special forces are coming to Mexico

A group of US Army’s 7th Special Forces Group has been approved by the Mexican Senate to come armed into Mexico and train troops. They come on Jan. 22 and will operate for two months.

Michael Burgoyne, former U.S. army attache to Mexico says the idea of direct US military action in Mexico is unhelpful and dangerous.

“Are we bored because we don’t have enough going on that we want to engage in military operations in Mexico?” he said. “It’s a mirage.”

Still, if the US continues to have such incredible figures of overdoses (110,000+ in the last year), this will go on being a red hot political issue.

“This a major crisis and a huge problem so this response is we’ve got to  do something…and we’re going to use military force”
